Sound & Vulcan! • It could be argued, over the years, that William Shatner and Colm Meaney were the galaxy’s busiest Star Trek figures, routinely juggling multiple projects. But that would mean overlooking Tim Russ. He, of course, played Tuvok for all of Star Trek: Voyager’s seven-year run, but also appeared on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Generations, and Star Trek: Picard, and provided the character’s voice for several Star Trek videogames. Beyond his work on the final frontier, Russ has acted in numerous other films, lent his voice to animated fare, as well as written, produced, and/or directed shows, films, and public service announcement. He’s also an ace musician - singer and guitarist - who has recorded a few albums and often performs at clubs and conventions. It’s been a few years since Star Trek Explorer spoke to Russ, but we rectified that recently. Over the course of a 45-minute conversation, the multihyphenate discussed all the above and more. Here’s what he had to say…

TOP 10 SECURITY THREATS
THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF Tuvok • A trusted security officer and a close friend to Captain Kathryn Janeway, Tuvok safeguarded U.S.S. Voyager and its crew through their seven-year trip across the Delta Quadrant. Armed with stoic logic and an elite eye for detail, the Vulcan found a fresh perspective on friendship as he established new connections with Neelix, Tom Paris, and the former Maquis aboard the ship. While Tuvok’s career trajectory was a circuitous one, as his first foray into Starfleet did not yield the results he had expected, the Vulcan nonetheless found his way and navigated a path to a captaincy of his own by the early 25th century.
